Carved into soft limestone, these ancient mills were once the heart of Gallipoli’s thriving olive oil industry during the Renaissance. Walking through the cool, dimly lit chambers, lined with stone basins and presses, you’ll step back in time to when the town’s “liquid gold” was exported across Europe.

Please note: This tour involves about 4 km walking on uneven ground, that might be slippery. Shoulders and knees must be covered to enter the churches. Temperatures might be very high make sure to bring enough water, sun block and hat.
